Final Fantasy X/X-2 Interview at E3

Crossposted from my Tumblr (ack, when did that start happening?!)

Square-Enix had a livestream interview at E3 today with producers Kitase and Toriyama. Here's the original video:

Their interview starts at about 05:15 and runs for an hour.

I have written out a complete transcription here.

Addresses a lot of juicy stuff, but fails to answer two questions:
Last Mission not yet confirmed.
Release date not yet set.

Aaaaaaaaah! *runs in circles*

I am both excited and really nervous about this. Because like you said, this is probably our only chance at a remaster, so I hope it is good. I'm glad to hear they're still tweaking the character models' faces because I am still not very attached to them. But I don't know how much more improved it's going to get, because from everything they've released the past few days it looks like they're about ready to go.

And aw man an open-world Spira with room for exploration and a day/night cycle would have been awesome. I like that X-2 let you do things in your own order but being able to run around in this beautiful, vibrant world without the constraints of a path would have been wonderful. One of my favorite things about XII was how explorer-friendly it was; you were told where to go but also free to be like "What's this area over here? Where does this path go?" (And then get murdered by overlevelled monsters in all probability.)

Haha I suppose I will never be able to beat the butterfly game or the Yevon-forsaken chocobo race. (I got a time of 0:00 once, and was overjoyed until I found out it was EXACTLY 0:00, and no Sun Sigil for me. I've never gotten that close again. *shakes fist at sky*)

I would guess that if they're recording new dialogue it's for Last Mission? Ohh or maybe it's for the "Another Story" cutscene. Hmm.

They are still "undecided" about whether to include Last Mission, the toads!

I donno. I'm hoping maybe Auron's farewell scene in full, 3D-rendered glory.

Ah, bless you!

My neck just woke me up early, so I'll take a look right now!
