I'm back, jetlagged, and incapable of doing anything useful or coherent. This probably explains why I'm doing a meme.

MEME ganked from konstantya:

"Post a single sentence from each WIP you have (or as many as you want to pick). No context, no explanations. No more than one sentence!"

1. In the tall grasses, Lady Ginnem and Yuna were playing knucklebones over her grave.

2. After calling her marshmallow of Yevon for so long, Tiidus often struggled to remember her real name, and the candy canes dangling from the points of her hat were not helping.

3. Under the circumstances, Quistis guessed that Xu would not reprimand her for skipping steps three through five in the interest of efficiency-- although she projected a 99% chance that Xu would look better chained to a wall than The Girl Next Door.

4. "...I'm not needed any longer, Steed," she said with a matching smile: warm, frayed, brilliant.

5. "Er, your move, I think," Elma said, cheeks coloring in the frosty air as she studied the ice-chiseled pieces to avoid Shiva's unsettling smirk.

6. Thunder still ripped the sky, and Clasko's droning voice kept singing the same lullaby, but the screams of the dying faded to the trills of one lonely chocobo.

7. If Chappu wasn't waiting for me, I think I might return for Ginnem's body, adding one more fiend to Yojimbo's tally.

8. Stepping from the crest of the waves to Sin's back, Lulu bent and drew a blade from the scabrous shell, holding it aloft in taunting triumph before Tidus' eyes: Excalibur.

9. The stranger gave a throaty laugh and smacked the water next to Will's heart with a brown palm. "What would ye do, girl-child, shoot me?"

10. Ice shards and blue sparks fell around their shoulders as Auron thrust his sword up through the chaos, letting Evrae's momentum do the slicing for him.

11. Lulu was suddenly afraid that if she turned around, that's all she would see: a stained-glass icon, not the body she had touched, tasted, and loved for the enduring soul inside.

12. Click click click: who the heck walked like that, stapling every step to the deckplates?

13. It took him a moment to realize Yunalesca was finished, and the dark waves of magic shredding the air before them with ear-splitting thunderclaps were coming from Lulu alone.

Although some of those sentences did leave me scratching my head a little...

All great, though...

Bits from my two WIPs...
#1)“But what if this quest turns out to be…” Khan glanced at Dr. McCoy. “… Frodo’s Ring? What do we do then?”

“I assume we’d probably have to go to Mordor,” Jim Kirk replied. “That is, if we could get the co-ordinates. But that’s not too likely. Remember, this is a diplomatic mission, and more a token gesture than anything else.”

That name conjured up an image in his mind, a melancholy child with unusual eyes, but the image fled back into the depths of his mind before he could grab hold of it…

Re: Bits from my two WIPs...
Khan not trying to kill them?
Frodo's ring?

Holy sonic screwdrivers, Batman. :)

It's from my Star Trek AU, Keepers of the Trust on ff.net. It'll all make sense...

You really are evil, aren't you? Don't just leave wee gems like #3 lying around for those of us desperate for a bit of Q/Xu interaction. Seriously. I'm to the point where I will read a work describing how they bought gas or groceries or read the newspaper. ANYTHING!

Chained to a wall? Wicked child. You shouldn't paint pretty pictures like that. I don't know which I love more, the thought of Xu in chains or Q being amused by it. Come on...I'm begging now. There's like, you know, a dozen or so Quistis/Xu fans that would LOVE to see what magic you could work with them.

Oh gosh. I really don't have much. I just started with a painfully contrived excuse for one of them to jump the other's bones and commence with lemon smuttage. It's still sitting there right at the bones-jumping moment.

Thanks for poking me. Maybe I'll give that a nudge, since LHAD has gotten stuck.

Painfully contrived excuses, eh? Meh. I don't care. I'm all for bones-jumping moments. I've looked everywhere for a decent story featuring these characters and I've found none at all--smutty, dramatic, comedic, whatever. Just a couple of semi-passable fics, but nothing really spectacular. I don't think that anybody has bothered to explore why Quistis calls herself the Card King and why someone like Xu would take a backseat to her. (unless Quistis is teaching things at Balamb Garden that I didn't learn until college)

I don't beg just anybody, you know. If you ever decide to give it a try, by all means, let me know!
